Dalkeith Campus gets new 4G football pitch

Dalkeith Campus 4G

A new 4G football pitch, replacing the old 2G surface, is being installed at the Dalkeith Campus as part of a programme of work over the summer.

The Dalkeith Campus is the location of Dalkeith High School, St David’s High School and Saltersgate.

The pitch is being installed at no extra cost to Midlothian Council. The Public Private Partnership contract that covers the Dalkeith Campus ensures that maintenance (reactive, planned preventative and replacement) is paid for by the contract, ensuring that the three schools on the campus are kept in good condition throughout at no extra expense to the schools or council.

For the lifetime of the 30 year contract the contractor is obliged to ensure facilities remain up to date and hence the 2G pitch, installed when the school was built in 2003, is being replaced with the 4G pitch.

The summer programme of work also includes the running track being completely refurbished, the fitness suite equipment being completely replaced, main kitchen cookers replaced, hot food trolleys replaced, technical drawing tables replaced and CCTV increased.

The new pitch brings the number of 3G or 4G football pitches in Midlothian to seven, which will be welcome news to local youth football clubs who continually struggle to find suitable pitches to train and play matches on expecially in the winter.

The 3G or 4G pitches in Midlothian are located at

– Poltonhall (3G)
– Lasswade High School x 2
– Dalkeith Campus
– Newbattle High School
– Beeslack High School
– Penicuik Park
