Dalkeith High School is the top-ranked Midlothian secondary school.

According to the recently published list of the top performing state secondary schools in Scotland by The Times newspaper, Dalkeith High School is the top-ranked Midlothian secondary school with their nearest competitor fourteen places below. The list has been compiled using data on attainment at Higher level supplied by Scottish Government and compares performance between schools with similar catchment areas.

Dalkeith High School has also made it into the top third of the table of all state secondary schools in Scotland, the only Midlothian school to do so.
