Do you travel on the Borders Railway?

Thursday January 14th 2016

Do you travel on the Borders Railway? If so, Midlothian Council wants to hear more about how you get to and from the stations at Shawfair, Eskbank, Newtongrange and Gorebridge.

The council has launched a short survey to find out residents’ travel habits in a bid to encourage more people to walk or cycle to and from the stations.

If you fill it in, you could win a £25 Argos voucher.

Councillor Derek Rosie, the cabinet member for transport, said: “We are trying to encourage local people to travel actively to the stations. We want to know how residents are currently getting to the stations and what we can do to get them to ditch the car, for example, and get their walking shoes on.

“To get more people walking and cycling, it may be that we as a council need to do more, such as providing safer or more direct walking and cycling routes.

“The more people who fill in the survey, the more relevant information we will have to make sure as many local people as possible can get to the stations on foot or by bike.”
