For left to right: P7 pupils, Eva Kubiliute, Harry Forsyth, Tayla Broughton, Ronan O’Neil Kenny, Ross Bruce and Chloe Wilson celebrate Lawfield Primary School’s Awards for All Scotland grant in the school’s gym hall.

Lawfield Primary School has been awarded £3,400 for new sports equipment by the National Lottery.

Offered by the lottery’s Awards for All Scotland grants programme, the funds will allow the Mayfield and Easthouses school to upgrade kit and equipment for their Active Schools clubs and other sports activities.

The National Lottery Awards for All Scotland awards grants to community, arts and sports groups on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and sportscotland.

Lawfield Primary School head teacher, Zena Richardson, said:

“We were delighted to receive this award that will increase pupil enthusiasm and encourage wider pupil participation in a range of active activities. We look forward to encouraging all of our pupils to engage and develop a range of skills for learning and for life.”

Active Schools aims to provide a greater number of higher quality opportunities for local school aged children to take part in sport and physical activity before school, during lunchtime and after school.

The team also aims to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community.
