UPDATE 25th November, change of Venue to St.John’s & Kings Park Church

The Midlothian General Election hustings are taking place on the 27th November 2019 at St.John’s & Kings Park Church 31 Eskbank Road Dalkeith EH22 1HJ, 7pm to 9pm.

Nominations for the election closed this week and there are four candidates standing for the Midlothian constituency in the UK General Elections.

The candidates are, listed in alphabetical order :

– Steve Arrundale, Scottish Liberal Democrats

– Rebecca Fraser, Scottish Conservative and Unionist

– Danielle Rowley, Scottish Labour Party

– Owen Thompson, Scottish National Party

Candidates for the election to the Westminster Parliament on 12th December will be questioned on why voters should give them their vote.

All candidates have been invited to the hustings and all, except the Liberal Democrat candidate, are able to attend. A spokesperson for the Liberal Democrat candidate may stand in.

All Midlothian residents are invited to attend and submit questions in advance to be put to the candidates.

Questions will be selected in advance by the moderator but supplementary questions from the audience on the night will also be included.

The event is being organised by the Midlothian Federation of Community Councils, Eskbank & Newbattle Community Council and Midlothian View.

Given the short timescales of this election then this hustings is likely to be the only one in the run up to election day.
