Schools’ catchments report published

Monday January 11th 2016

Midlothian Council have published their consultation report for school catchment areas along the A701 corridor.

Parents, staff members, pupils and other interested groups gave Midlothian Council their views on proposals to create the catchment area for the new primary school in Bilston and to change the catchments of schools along the A701 corridor.

Details of the opinions captured, both oral and written, are included in the council’s consultation report, published tooday (11th January 2016).

The report also gives details of a report by Education Scotland, the national body which supports quality and improvement in Scottish education, on the educational aspects of the proposals.

The council will now have a period of three weeks for further consideration before making a decision on whether to progress with the proposals, either in whole or in part.

It is anticipated that the consultation report will be presented to a meeting of the full council on Tuesday 9 February, setting out recommendations.
