Stuart McKenzie has become Midlothian’s newest Councillor, elected for the Midlothian East Ward last Friday.

The Scottish National Party also increased their vote share by 9.2%.

Speaking after the result, Councillor Stuart McKenzie said:

“It is an honour to have been chosen by Midlothian East voters to serve as their elected representative. I will now focus all my attention to fulfilling the role, and to listening and responding to the needs of the people and Communities of Midlothian East.”

Midlothian MP Owen Thompson said:

“I’m delighted to see Stuart elected. Midlothian SNP Councillors work hard for their communities, and the rise in support for the SNP shows voters agree.”

SNP Candidate for Midlothian North & Musselburgh, Colin Beattie said:

“Stuart will be a hard working addition to the SNP Council Group – his strong commitment to the communities of Midlothian East is impressive”.
