St Mary’s consultation launched

Tuesday May 9th 2017

St Mary's Primary

Give the council your views on the proposal for St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School.

Midlothian council has launched a consultation to get local people’s views on the proposal to relocate St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School to the new school campus on the site of the former Hopefield Primary School in Bonnyrigg. Subject to a separate consultation running at the same time, the rest of the campus will be used for nursery and Primary 1 of Burnbrae Primary School.

If approved, the relocation of St Mary’s will happen when the new campus opens, planned for the 2018/19 school session.

The proposal would mean that St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School would relocate from its current site on Polton Street to the new school campus on Rosewell Road. The consultation will run for six weeks from 8 May until Monday 19 June 2017.

Paper copies of the consultation proposal document will be at St Mary’s Primary School and the Lasswade Centre.

You can fill in the survey online HERE.

Paper copies of the survey can be returned to any Midlothian library or school. You can also email: educationconsultation@midlothian.gov.uk or post them to:

Sandra Banks, Midlothian Council, Education, Communities & Economy, Freepost SCO 622, Dalkeith EH22 OBR.

To hear more about the St Mary’s proposal come along to the public meeting at the school on Wednesday 24 May from 19:00 to 20:30.

Once the consultation period is over, the views gathered will be considered by the council and Education Scotland.

The final consultation report will then be published in both electronic and printed form at least 3 weeks before Council makes a decision on the proposal.

The council anticipates that the final consultation report, setting out a recommendation, will be presented to the meeting of the full Council on 26 September 2017.
