An 83-year-old rugby superfan, May Sinclair, was treated to an unforgettable experience by Arnold Clark when she was brought back to Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the first time in almost eight years.
May Sinclair, from Hawick in the Scottish Borders, was treated to a VIP matchday experience thanks to Arnold Clark, Principal Partners of Scottish Rugby, during the team's Guinness Six Nations win over France.
The day began with a special pick-up from May’s home in Hawick, where she was chauffeured to Edinburgh in a BMW 3 Series. On arrival at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, she received a warm welcome from Arnold Clark ambassador and former Scotland international Ryan Wilson.
May was then given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium, including access to the Scotland changing rooms, where she was presented with her own Scottish rugby shirt. During the tour, she met Olympic silver medallists Bruce Mouat, Hammy McMillan and Grant Hardie from the British curling team, who were leading in the Scotland team bus in a Mercedes-Benz Maybach as part of Arnold Clark's ‘Lead the Legends’ pre-match activation.
May was then invited pitch side to soak up the atmosphere and watch the national anthems ahead of Scotland taking on France – a moment she described as ‘Something I’ll never forget’.
Her special day continued in the Arnold Clark Legends Lounge, where she enjoyed VIP hospitality and the chance to meet former Scotland internationals Kenny Logan and Greig Laidlaw.
May has been a passionate supporter of Scottish rugby throughout her life. Deeply involved in the sport at grassroots level, she helped nurture young rugby talent in schools across the Borders and has long been a respected figure in the game. She also carried on the legacy of the legendary Bill McLaren in her role as a primary teacher and by supporting youth rugby in the area.
May’s son-in-law, Iain, who was also there on the day, said: “A huge, huge thank you to Arnold Clark and everyone else who made this experience possible.
“It’s a day that will live with us forever. My mum is still on cloud nine!”
Former Glasgow Warriors star Ryan added: “Meeting May was an absolute privilege. People like her are the heartbeat of Scottish rugby – those who have supported the game for decades and helped inspire the next generation.
“To be able to welcome her back to Murrayfield and give her a day she’ll remember was really special for all of us.”
