The incident happened around 6pm on Saturday 21 March in King George V Park when two unknown teenagers offered an 11-year-old boy what they claimed to be a sweet.

The item was in a wrapper and was white with a smiley face on it.

The men are described as approximately 18-years-old and were wearing dark clothing.

Inspector Bryan Burns said:

“We’re appealing to all children and young people to be aware of the dangers of excepting anything of this nature from people you don’t know, and to contact police, a parent or guardian as soon as possible if you are ever approached in a similar manner.

“We’re also appealing for any witnesses who can help us with our enquiries to come forward.”
