Don’t forget that if you’re planning to vote in the European Elections on 23 May, you’ll need to be registered.

The registration deadline is midnight on Tuesday 7 May.

The deadline to apply for a vote by post is 17:00 on Wednesday 8 May.

Alternatively, you can appoint a proxy – someone you trust to vote on your behalf. Proxy vote applications must be received by 17:00 on Wednesday 15 May.

The Chief Executive and Local Returning Officer for the Midlothian Local Counting Area, Dr Grace Vickers said:

“An order was laid in the Parliament on Monday 8 April 2019 to set the date for the European Parliament Election. This came into force on Wednesday 10 April 2019. Polling for this election will be held on Thursday 23 May 2019 with votes counted on Sunday 26 May 2019.

“Therefore, if you intend to vote then please be aware of the deadlines to register.”

Scotland is one EU constituency represented by six Members of the European Parliament.
