Party Pants 2024
Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
Following their popular productions of Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk, Stage Door Entertainment announced their third panto – Beauty and the Beast. This enchanting tale of love, magic, and redemption will be brought to life, featuring all the comedy, music, and fun that Porty Panto fans have come to expect.
Angus, Prince of Summer, is cursed by the chilly Beira, Queen of Winter, and only try love can break the spell. Can brave Bella save Angus and Party before it’s too late?
Packed with much-loved music, plenty of silliness and surprises, and hilarious comedy to keep everyone smiling, the Porty Panto is a perfect outing for all the family.
Returning for their third year, Stage Door Entertainment welcomed new cast. Sarah Alexandra Brown stars as Bella, with Grant MacIver as the Beast. Christine Mills will play the dastardly villain, Beira, while Christopher Craig plays the beloved and quirky Laird Murdo, Bella’s father. Taking the audience through the show is Will-O’-the-Wisp, played by Erin Robertson, and adding the classic panto comedy are the hilarious duo of Bonnie Scone and Tattie Scone, played by Alec Westwood and Ross Jamieson, respectively.
Beauty and the Beast will also feature a talented group of young dancers aged 8-14 from across the Lothians, who will join the professional cast at each performance.
Mark Kydd joins the team this year as writer and director, with a magical script of family-friendly fun. Tommie Travers returns as Musical Director, with Aidan O’Brien as Choreographer and Lisa Goldie as Production Manager.
Tommie Travers and Aidan O’Brien shared their excitement about their third Porty Panto:
“After the overwhelming success of our previous pantos, we’re thrilled to be back at Portobello Town Hall with another show the whole family can enjoy. Beauty and the Beast is a timeless classic, and we’re excited to bring it to life with all the joy, humour, and festive cheer that the Portobello community has come to expect. This will be a real Christmas treat for audiences of all ages!”
‘Beauty and the Beast’ runs at Portobello Town Hall from Friday 5th December to Sunday 28th December 2025. Performance times vary.
