The adventure park in the middle of Dalkeith Country Park is set to expand with plans lodged to make it even bigger. Fort Douglas Adventure Park is a popular attraction for families, with zipwires, climbing walls, mazes and tunnels to explore.

Two years ago the Buccleuch Estate which owns Dalkeith Country Park, was granted planning permission to add two giant jumping pillows to the adventure playground.

Now they have applied to Midlothian planners for permission to expand the play area into nearly half a hectare of additional land to the east of the site, which is described as park and agricultural land, and fence in the additional space to make it part of the adventure areas.

The adventure park is open seven days a week and ticket prices range from £2 to £7.50 depending on ages and peak times of the year.

Earlier this month the estate announced the return of children’s birthday parties to the adventure park, with families able to book morning or afternoon slots including the use of a party room and access to the playground.

No details of what is planned for the new area of land, if approved, have been lodged with the application.

The application can be viewed on Midlothian Council’s planning portal HERE.
