Scottish Borders Council’s excellent record for paying invoices in a timely manner has been praised.
Latest statistics revealed at a meeting of the council’s Executive Committee this week showed that the local authority is paying 97 per cent of its invoices submitted within 30 days.
It was a statistic highlighted by Councillor Scott Hamilton, deputy leader of SBC, who said:
“I think that’s a fantastic record to have, particularly when we have small and medium enterprises in the Borders, obviously competing for council contracts isn’t an easy process and being able to pay them in a timely manner effects their business hugely and I want to thank staff who enable that to happen.”
