Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Coffee Connections event
Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
From brand-new start-ups to long-established local powerhouses, business leaders across the region came together last week for Coffee Connections — a new networking event hosted by the Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce.
The informal morning gathering brought together 14 local businesses, representing everything from companies founded just a fortnight ago to some of the area’s most established names. Held in East Lothian, the event created space for conversations, collaboration, and community building — all over a cup of coffee.
Partnership Executive of the Chamber, Matt Cameron, said:
“It was fantastic to see the strings of connection start to take shape. Sometimes being a business founder can be a lonely, tough journey — especially in the current economy. Events like this don’t just spark business opportunities; they remind people that they’re part of a supportive community. That sense of connection is vital to keeping people motivated and moving forward.”
Unlike traditional networking sessions, Coffee Connections aimed to be relaxed and organic — less about formal introductions, more about genuine engagement. The event saw lively discussions about shared challenges and emerging opportunities, including the impact of AI, growth, and innovation across local industries.
Following the success of this first gathering, the Chamber has confirmed plans to continue Coffee Connections into the new year, with the next event set to take place in Midlothian.
Matt added:
“We want to make it easy for local businesses to meet, talk, and spark ideas together. When people connect, they collaborate — and that’s what builds resilient, thriving local economies.”
