Business leaders and interns from across Scotland came together this week to celebrate the achievements of the Bright Green Business Internship Scheme, as participants competed for the title of “Most Impactful Intern of 2025.”

The Bright Green Business Internship Scheme helps organisations research, grow, innovate, and design new products and services, while giving recent graduates the opportunity to showcase their skills and gain valuable, hands-on experience. Interns take on a wide range of roles including Net-Zero Advisors, Designers, Active Travel Coordinators, Marketing and Events Assistants, Researchers, Software Engineers, Analysts, and more.

This year, four talented interns shared their experiences, learnings, and the impact they made on their host businesses:

– Carly Mullen – hosted by NHS Ayrshire & Arran

– Kashvi Gupta – hosted by Warmworks

– Lucien Overwheel – hosted by The Cairngorms Business Partnership LTD (sponsored by Zero Waste Scotland)

– Zuzile Hlatshwayo – hosted by The Scottish Parliament

Karen Ritchie, CEO of Bright Green Business, said:

“Every year I’m amazed by the quality of the presentations and the incredible things our interns achieve for their host companies,” said Karen Ritchie, CEO of Bright Green Business.

“It’s fantastic to see how their confidence grows and their skills develop, while delivering work that not only enhances the host organisations but leaves a lasting legacy for the Future.”

Ritchie added:

“Unlike traditional internship programmes, ours runs year-round — allowing businesses to access skilled support whenever they need it, not just during the summer months.”

The judging panel — made up of local business leaders and last year’s winner Karolina Dannberg — had a challenging decision to make, with projects spanning diverse industries and skill sets. In the end, Carly Mullen was crowned Most Impactful Intern of 2025.
