Midlothian Council has received face masks donated from China. The PPE will be used in care homes, the community hospital and in the community.

The council’s Chief Officer Place Derek Oliver thanked representatives from the Scotland China International Association UK for the supplies.

The association, which promotes Scotland in China, worked with the Henan Provincial Government in China. The Henan Provincial Government donated the masks, which will be distributed to councils across Scotland.

The Scotland China International Association UK is delivering the supplies with the help of UN Scotland and the British Born Young Talent Association (BBYTA).

Derek Oliver said he was delighted to receive the supplies, which will go to good use across Midlothian, helping keep staff and communities safe during the pandemic.
