The body blow to Labour in the recent Caerphilly by-election where they came a very poor third, in a constituency which has been Labour since time immemorial is not unexpected.

This party of the “working people” reneged on the WASPI women, attacked pensioners’ winter fuel payment, oh, and where did that promise of £300 off our energy bills go. Down the Swannee as energy costs rocket. Welsh voters were left with a choice and thankfully rejected Farage and his motley crew and cruel policies and opted for Plaid Cymru.

Plaid while campaigning for an independent Wales also stands for left of centre democratic policies-sister party to the SNP.

By-elections are a weather vane indicating the way the political winds are blowing. Labour promised an improvement in our lives and have gone beyond disappointment to despair. The budget under the misguided actions of the Reeves/Starmer combo will make matters worse.

They increased the employers’ National Insurance contributions raising prices especially on food, sure as eggs-and look at the price of them now.

It is costing the vital safety net of our charities a fortune on their employee bills. It runs to many thousands to be met year after year from donations.

So, their services are being cut. Take a lesson from Wales. It’s either the world of Trump loving Farage or trusting in ourselves as a nation. Yes, it’s all about the economy and the UK, Westminster, has run the economy into the ground for decades. One of the worst in Europe. Scotland with an excess of energy has some of the highest energy bills.

We are a nation of exporters and not just of energy, yet we are poor. The answer is staring us in the face. Let’s be independent, of Westminster and its sour and failing politics.
