The Scottish Conservative announced their candidates on Tuesday evening for the 2026 Parliamentary Elections. The Conservatives have chosen Phil Doggart to stand in the Midlothian North constituency.

Phil Doggart said after his selection that it was an “honour” and highlighted the importance to recognise that residents of Midlothian North do not just live outside of Edinburgh, but have their own communities that deserve the best and that he will ensure that throughout his campaign, he will bring a message of change to the towns and villages in his constituency.

He said, “The expansion of the towns in Midlothian over the last few years has brought new pressures for the people living here. Residents must have access to GPs, school buildings are of the highest quality, and the towns of the constituency are linked by good transport options.”

“It is important to recognise that the residents of Midlothian North do not live just outside Edinburgh, but that they live in growing communities that deserve the best opportunities available. As I campaign over the next 11 months, I will be bringing the message of common sense for a change to the towns and villages of Midlothian North. I will be asking the residents of Midlothian North to vote for me as their candidate and for Scottish Conservatives on the regional list vote”.

Following the selection, Midlothian Association Chairman Reuben Earl, said, “Phil is an outstanding candidate and I am very much looking forward to working with and supporting him throughout the next 11 months”.

Highlighting that the Scottish Conservatives will make Scotland a better place, “Midlothian has a choice in 2026. More of the same failure with the SNP and Labour. Confused populists who only tell people what they want to hear. The Scottish Conservatives, who will put common sense at the heart of our campaign. We will make Scotland an attractive place to live and work, with lower taxes and more efficient public services.”
