Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
The Dalkieth Festival, which has been running for over 50 years, returns this Saturday to provide a day full of activities and attractions.
Taking place at King’s Park, the festival is running from 1 to 4pm and will consist of acts, activities, a fun fair, stalls from community groups, alongside food and drink vendors.
The main stage acts are hosted by Black Diamond FM, providing various types of performaces throughout the festival.
The festival will begin with a parade at 12:30pm from St Mary’s Church, travelling trhough Dalkeith’s High Street and into Kings Park. The parade will include local community groups and is being supported by members of the Esk Valley Rotary Club who are helping with stewarding.
Committe member, Councillor Margot Russell explained, “I hope all the families who attend, enjoy this year’s festival. The committee have continued to work hard to keep popular activities affordable for families, with wristband costs remaining at £5.”
With this year’s wristband remaining at the low costs of £5, it will provide unlimited use for a wide variety of activities such as, inflatables, pony rides, face painting and a magic show.
With the parade starting at 12:30pm and the festival being held between 1 to 4pm, this year’s festival is returning after more than 50 years this Saturday to provide a day long of family fun and support for various local community groups.
