The Dalkeith Miners Charitable Society has once again awarded cheques to local charities and groups to help them do what they do.

The Dalkeith Miners Charitable Society charity is based in the Dalkeith Miners Club and its purpose is to provide facilities for recreation and other leisure-time activities for the benefit of all in Dalkeith and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The Dalkeith Miners Club, a very vibrant club in the centre of the Woodburn community, pays a rent to the charitable society and as a result the society is able to redistribute its profits to the community.

Last Friday in an awards ceremony the charity handed over the cheques to the twelve recipient groups. These were

– Dalkeith Thistle Football Club
– Dalkeith Thistle Community Football Club
– Woodburn Fun Day
– Dalkeith Miners OAP
– Dalkeith Miners Fishing Club
– Grassy Riggs
– Aim High Learning Programme
– Bill Russell Woodburn Youth Project Bike Workshop
– Dalkeith Boxing Club
– Dalkeith Festival
– Whatton Lodge
– Nap club

Cheques totalling £3,750 were handed over to the groups.
