Dalkeith Rotary Club have been busy restoring the run-down garden area of a women’s refuge.

Women’s Aid East and Midlothian were ‘absolutely delighted’ when members of Dalkeith Rotary agreed to restore the garden at one of their refuges, said chief executive Julie Watson.

A plan was formed to restore flower beds and reinstate other features including new grass and paths, the work being carried out over a number of weeks.

Ms Watson added, “We are very grateful to the Rotary members for their efforts, hard work and time to ensure our garden is a safe and enjoyable space for the families that live with us during very challenging periods in their life.

“Rotary have done such an amazing job and having this kind of support from the community is such a privilege”.
