A dozen much-needed new homes in the Scottish Borders are to be built after a land transfer deal was struck.

Whiteburn Projects has completed the sale of land to Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA), paving the way for the delivery of 12 high-quality affordable homes for rent as part of the March Street development in Peebles.

The land transfer marks a major milestone in the partnership between Whiteburn Projects Ltd and SBHA.

The homes will be delivered as a mix of one and two bedroom flats, located in a dedicated part of the March Street site.

The partnership will help meet local housing needs by providing modern, energy-efficient homes for people who want to live in Peebles, helping to meet local housing needs.

The March Street development aims to create a cohesive neighbourhood, with a strong focus on quality across the wider site.

These affordable homes form a key part of the community benefits and planning commitments for the development.

Recognising this as a further and significant step forward for March Street, Eve McCurrich, Managing Director of Whiteburn Projects, said: “Completing this land sale is a milestone we’re proud to reach with SBHA.

“This strengthens our working relationship with SBHA to deliver much needed, quality new affordable homes in the Scottish Borders.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the affordable homes progress alongside our private homes and to delivering a development that Peebles can be proud of.”

David Chalmers, Director of Development at Scottish Borders Housing Association, said: “March Street is another important opportunity to deliver homes that reflect what people in the Scottish Borders need.

“These 12 one and two bedroom flats will help meet strong local demand in Peebles, providing high-quality, energy-efficient homes for rent in a great location.

“We’re pleased to be working so closely with Whiteburn to progress these plans, and we’re grateful for the support of Scottish Borders Council and the Scottish Government in helping to make developments like this possible.

“We look forward to seeing the new homes take shape as part of a balanced, sustainable community at March Street.”

Whiteburn is a well-established residential developer.

In 2025, the team received the double accolade of being named Homebuilder of the Year (SME) at the Homes for Scotland Awards and Housebuilder of the Year (less than 100 units) at the Scottish Home Awards.
