A Midlothian science park has demonstrated its continued commitment to world class service and environmental management by being reaccredited for two major international standards.

Edinburgh Technopole, a world-leading science park on the Bush Estate in Midlothian, has completed reaccreditation for ISO standards 9001, the world’s most recognisable quality management standard, and ISO 14001, which reduces the site’s environmental footprint.

ISO 9001 ensures the park’s tenants get consistent, good quality products and services from Technopole staff, whilst ISO 14001 is the world’s first international standard for environmental management systems, specifying requirements to enhance performance and minimise environmental impact.

Edinburgh Technopole, a member of the BEST Network of science parks with sites across the UK, was first awarded ISO 9001 accreditation in December 2014 following a rigorous two stage assessment, which involved a strategic gap analysis and the formal two-stage ISO 9001 certification assessment.

A year earlier, in 2013, the park achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, by demonstrating compliance with specific requirements for an environmental management system to operate the site’s environmental responsibilities.

Park Manager, Judith Sanderson, said: “We are delighted to have achieved reaccredited status for both ISO standards. Ensuring management and environmental policies are followed and maintained is extremely important to us at Edinburgh Technopole, as we aspire to do everything we can to deliver the highest of standards for our tenants whilst reducing the impact on the local area.”

By achieving reaccredited status Edinburgh Technopole has demonstrated its dedication to ensuring the highest possible management and environmental standards, setting us apart from many other science parks in the UK.”
