Murrayfield

ScotRail have confirmed that that they will be adding extra carriages to trains and running extra services for rugby fans travelling to Scotland’s Six Nations home game against France at the BT Murrayfield Stadium. The game kicks off at 3pm on Sunday.

ScotRail will be using all available trains nationally on the day, with the Borders Railway seeing the 10:45am from Tweedbank depart with 5 carriages with extra carriages on the return as well – 18:12 with 5, 2012 with 4, 21:12 with 5 and the 10:12 with 5.

Local MSP Christine Grahame has welcomed the news saying

“I wrote to clarify that extra services would be provided for the fixture and I’m pleased to see ScotRail have included the Borders Railway in their plans for extra capacity for fans travelling to the match – the Borders is, after all, the home of rugby. The extra carriages should help ensure everyone has a comfortable journey and see to it that the train remains a great option for travelling to Murrayfield.

“The Borders Railway continues to be an asset to the area and I’m pleased to see it will be helping local fans cheer on Scotland in what I hope will be a great match.”
