Fringe by the Sea 2025 programme features big names and a new music film festival

The Fringe by the Sea that takes place in North Berwick from the 1st to 10th of August is set to be a filled event this year with household names and a new 10 day film music festival.

With support from Screen Scotland, new for 2025 is ‘Wavelength’, a music film festival consisting of ‘Seaside Screenings’, director talks and live music gigs, displaying local and seaside story’s through film and music.

The first event will be a playlist of music video’s by ‘Trainspotting’ author, Irvine Welsh, opening the festival through a journey of music and film. Following this is a stacked programme of events, including an appearance by director Tim Pope who is known for creating music videos for the likes of David Bowie and Queen.

This new event will be accompanied by performances from popular names, including a DJ set by Blur’s drummer Dave Rowntree and an exclusive performance from Ezra Collective. Alongside musical performances, comedian’s George Clarke and Joe Wickes will take the stage aswell as a talk by Sir Chris Hoy.

Judy Murray will also make an appearance through a talk and a live radio show featuring guests, such as Alan Davies, Ezra Collective and Joe Wicks.

A family programme is also back this year providing various types of entertainment and activities including a show from dance troupe Flawless and a science thrills show from Mr Boom.

Returning with a range of partners and continued support from The Times and The Sunday Times, Fringe by the Sea will welcome back their Tennents Bar and their popular Lighthouse stage.

Festival Director, Rory Steel, said on the upcoming events, “As word of Fringe By The Sea’s welcoming atmosphere and brilliant talent on show spreads year after year, we’re always aiming to keep one step ahead with an ever more impressive line-up. And what a billing we have this year, with more than 250 events taking place in North Berwick this August, there’s absolutely something for everyone.”

Offering free events, surprise drop-ins and ticketed shows alongside partnering with a range of local businesses, Fringe by the Sea 2025 offers 10 days of entertainment and unique events.
