Community groups, voluntary organisations and local businesses across the Scottish Borders are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £25k.

The Community Led Local Development Fund (CLLD) 2026-27 is a grant programme designed to support innovative, community-led projects that make a real difference locally.

Delivered through the Scottish Borders Local Action Group (LAG), the fund offers grants of up to £25k to help strengthen communities, grow the local economy and improve quality of life across the region.

Applications are welcomed from a wide range of organisations, including small businesses. private sector bodies and community and voluntary groups.

For 2026-27, two distinct funding streams are available, each designed to support different types of activity while sharing the same overarching aim of local impact.

The Growing the Economy Fund is open to businesses with a clear intention to generate profit. This is the sole eligibility requirement for this funding stream.

It is suitable for small and micro businesses, social enterprises and other enterprise organisations looking to grow, diversify or strengthen their operations.

Projects that demonstrate innovation, sustainability and long term economic benefit are particularly encouraged.

Secondly, the Community Development Fund supports projects that deliver positive social impact and strengthen local communities.

To be considered, projects must demonstrate a meaningful contribution to the priority themes of Zet Zero, poverty alleviation and improved public services.

Organisations that have previously received CLLD funding may apply again for support for new projects. However, priority will be given to groups applying for the first time.

The application process opened on April 8 and follows a two stage approach.

All applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EoI). This allows the Local Action Group to assess eligibility and provide initial feedback before inviting full applications.

To arrange a meeting and check eligibility, contact the team at: clldgrants@scotborders.gov.uk

Grant decisions are issued within eight weeks of submission. Successful applicants will be contacted by an officer within 24 hours of the decision being made.
