Just days after Kieron Bowie’s multi-million pund transfer away from Easter Road Hibs have confirmed the permanent signings of Croatian-Australian striker Ante Suto from Slaven Belupo, subject to work permit approval and German wing-back Felix Passlack from VfL Bochum!
The 25-year-old Suto has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Club, with an option to extend for a further year. The terms of the transfer fee will remain undisclosed.
A product of the Hajduk Split youth academy, Suto started off his professional career with second-tier Croatia Zmijavci before moving to HNL outfit Slaven Belupo in 2024.
Suto has enjoyed a strong campaign in the HNL – the top-flight of Croatian football – scoring four goals and providing six assists in 18 league matches this season.
The new recruit is comfortable playing on either flank, as well as through the middle in the traditional centre-forward position – carrying a strong attacking threat, wherever he is deployed on the pitch.
Hibernian FC Head Coach, David Gray commented: “Ante is another strong addition to our forward line and gives us a very direct threat in front of goal.
“He is a powerful player with a strong physical presence and he is a brilliant option to have because he is capable of playing out wide as well as through the middle.
“We’re delighted to bring him in on a permanent basis and look forward to working with him on the training pitch.”
Hibernian FC Sporting Director, Malky Mackay added: “We are pleased to welcome Ante to Hibernian FC and to get this deal over the line before the window closed.
“With Bowie’s departure, it was important that we added extra strength and depth to our forward areas – Ante brings exactly that and is another excellent character to add to the building.
“He is a player who is coming into the prime of his career, and I am looking forward to watching him progress, once he has settled into Scottish Football.”
Meanwhile 27-year-old Felix Passlack joins David Gray’s side for an undisclosed fee, penning a three-and-a-half-year contract to keep him at the Club until June 2029. The experienced defender, who can play anywhere on the right flank, made his professional debut for Borussia Dortmund aged 17 and became the youngest German scorer in UEFA Champions League history when he scored for the German giants against Legia Warsawa in 2016.
Across his time with Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim and Bochum, he made 97 Bundesliga and 10 UEFA Champions League appearances in total.
Passlack also has experience playing in England and the Netherlands during loan spells with Norwich City and Fortuna Sittard. Our latest recruit will wear the number 25 shirt for the Hibees.
David Gray commented on Passlack: “We’re delighted to bring a player of Felix’s calibre and experience into the building.
“Felix is a tenacious, attack-minded player that can play anywhere on the right-hand side.
“He comes with a great pedigree – having played at a very high level – and will be a strong addition to the squad.”
Malky Mackay, added: “We are all really excited to bring a player of Felix’s experience and talent to Hibernian Football Club.
“He is a player that has been on our radar for some time now, so we are delighted to get the deal over the line and secure Felix on a long-term contract.
“He is a talented player with a great attitude and is exactly the type of character we are striving to bring into the building. He is another fantastic professional to add to the group and he is another role model for our younger players.”
Meanwhile midfielder Dylan Levitt has departed Hibernian FC and will join English League One side, Leyton Orient.
The Club have agreed a deal with the 25-year-old to mutually terminate his contract, which will allow him to make the permanent move to Leyton Orient.
The Welsh international joined Hibs in July 2023 and played 82 times for the Club across all competitions. In total, Levitt scored five goals for the Hibees and contributed three assists.
On Levitt’s departure, Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray commented: “I would like to thank Dylan for all his efforts and his contribution during his time at the Club.
“Unfortunately, Dylan hasn’t played as much as he would’ve wanted to this season – so he was keen to explore opportunities elsewhere.
“With six months left on his contract, we felt this agreement is best for all parties involved and I would like to wish him all the very best for the future.”
Levitt is the second player to leave Hibs in this transfer window after Kierson Bowie’s, Bowie joins Hellas Verona for club record fee.
The other three players moving to Easter Road are Kai Adndrews, Welsh international joins Hibs on loan, Owen Elding Hibs sign new forward and English forward Dane Scarlett.
