Daniel Coleman, Scottish Labour candidate for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale.
This View has been written by Daniel Coleman, Scottish Labour candidate for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale.
Having campaigned across Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, I have spoken to many voters who tell me the same things: difficulty seeing a GP, roads full of potholes, inadequate public transport, too few opportunities for young people, and pensioners waiting too long for the care and services they rely on.
The SNP government has failed Scotland. Economic and social decline has become normalised and our communities deserve better.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Scotland needs a government focused on delivery and on doing the right thing for the people we seek to represent. That is why I am standing as a candidate in this election.
My ambition is to be part of the next Scottish Labour Government that restores trust in politics, invests in the NHS, improves educational standards and creates real opportunities for young people across the country.
I know first-hand the difference a Labour government can make. Labour policies gave my family security and gave me the opportunity to go to university and build a career as an economist. I want to ensure everyone has the same life chances I had.
This election is about Scotland. It is about investment, jobs and housing. It is about getting Scotland moving in the right direction. After 18 years of SNP failure, I want to play my part in turning Scotland around. In May, I want to see a positive Scotland emerge. To do that, I need your support, and I ask you to consider giving me your vote for the constituency and a Labour vote on the list.
If elected, I will be a strong local voice for every part of MSTL. I will always listen to residents, work with community groups and businesses, and fight for the investment our area needs. With your support, Scottish Labour can win this seat, and help deliver the new direction that Scotland so badly needs.
