Jacquie Bell selected as Lib Dem candidate

Thursday February 18th 2016

Midlothian Liberal Democrats have selected Jacquie Bell as their Prospective Holyrood candidate for the Midlothian North and Musselburgh Constituency.

Jacquie is married to Simon, a Landscape Architect. She has one son, Huw (35).

Jacquie is an experienced campaigner at European, Holyrood, Westminster and local level. She was the Midlothian Candidate in 2001 and 2003. She is also a 2016 Lothians Regional List candidate.

Jacquie has a record for working for people as a social worker at Liberton Hospital and previously in Midlothian, as a past East Lothian councillor and as a Community Councillor and community activist.

Jacquie has a record of listening to people and transforming the issues raised into Liberal Democrat policies on a range of areas, particularly regarding social care, health and environment. Some of these have become Government legislation e.g abolition of the detention of child asylum seekers. She is currently a member of the Committee drawing together the 2016 Holyrood Manifesto. If elected she will seek to ensure the voices of local people and their concerns are heard in the Holyrood Chamber and real action taken to make changes that matter.

Jacquie is looking forward to campaigning against Colin Beattie MSP. She will be listening to local people about the issues that face them and giving the positive messages of what Liberal Democrats at Holyrood can offer local people.
