Midlothian Council is inviting valued carers to help celebrate Kinship Care Week, which runs from Monday 17 March to Friday 21 March.

Kinship carers are family or friends who step up, often during an unexpected crisis, to care for a child when their parents are unable to.

The council is holding two events during the week.

The first is in partnership with Children’s1st Midlothian and the KinConnect Group.

Kinship carers are invited to join for pizza and fun to celebrate the Kinship Carers and Children and Young People in Midlothian.

It is on Wednesday 19 March between 6.30pm and 8pm at Danderhall Community Hub, 59 Edmonstone Road Danderhall EH22 1QL.

Enjoy activities from Active Schools, surprise bags (with activity vouchers for families to use in the upcoming Easter Holidays), and drop ins from local services.

The second, in partnership with Grandparents Parenting Again and Kinship Carers Midlothian, is on Thursday 20 March from 10am to 11.30am. Join for coffee and cake to celebrate our Kinship Carers in Midlothian at Gorebridge Parish Church, 96 Hunterfield Rd, Gorebridge EH23 4TT.

If you’d like to come to either event please email Kinship@Midlothian.gov.uk
