The international situation is incredibly grave. Today, we are at a crossroads in history, and the UK Government is determined to find a path to a just and lasting peace.
That’s why the Prime Minister has announced the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War, as well as a £2.26 billion loan to boost Ukrainian defence capabilities, which will be paid back using profits on sanctioned Russian assets.
Britain is also taking action to unite partners around the cause of enduring peace, with the Prime Minister hosting European leaders in London and continuing to engage in intensive diplomacy.
These are serious times and they demand long-term, responsible, decisive leadership.
The Prime Minister is showing it.
