Artist Leo du Feu is returning to his roots with his biggest ever solo exhibition in the Gallery at Linlithgow Burgh Halls.

The striking paintings of the former Lowport Primary and Linlithgow Academy pupil are showcased in the Homecoming exhibition, which runs from Friday 22 May to 17 September 2026.

It aims to highlight how Leo’s art has evolved, as he explores key threads such as nature, landscape, wildlife and storytelling. It also features newly emerging works from Leo’s experiences of fatherhood and emotional well-being.

One of the artist’s top passions is painting in the landscape, often exploring by train in his role as ScotRail Community Rail Champion.

Another is working on large canvases in his Fife studio, while miniature wood engravings are also in Leo’s repertoire, hand-engraved and hand-printed.

Leo described the exhibition: “It’s about my coming home, to myself, to my art. It’s about how my art has evolved and expanded through it all. Come and see for yourself, what my biggest ever solo show, ‘Homecoming’, is all about.”

The exhibition also marks the 15th anniversary of the opening of The Gallery in April 2011 following a major refurbishment of the Linlithgow Burgh Halls.

Over 50 contemporary art exhibitions, artist talks and workshops have been hosted at the gallery over the years, including solo shows, national partnerships and group exhibitions.

A limited-edition commemorative leaflet to mark the milestone will be available from Linlithgow Burgh Halls from the end of May, and will also be available to download from the Linlithgow Burgh Halls website.

Places are free but space is limited. To request tickets, please email your name, contact email and phone number, as well as number of guests to: burgh.halls@westlothian.gov.uk, or call 01506 282720.
