Midlothian’s oldest local festival and one of Scotland’s largest traditional children’s gala days takes place in Loanhead this Saturday.
The centrepiece of the event is the crowning of Loanhead’s 111th School Queen, Amy McWilliams, which takes place on Fountain Green in the centre of the town at 11.45 am.
The main procession around the town moves off from Church Street at 1.00 pm and will be accompanied by 11 bands.
This is followed by an afternoon of family entertainment in the Memorial Park where star attractions are equestrian stunt team, Riders of the Storm, and the international touring act, Van Buren’s Victorian Theatre of Wonders.
Admission to all events is free and everyone is invited to join the people of Loanhead in their traditional annual celebrations.
