David Sharp

David Sharp, 36, from Bonnyrigg, will launch his professional Professional Darts Corporation ProTour career this week, travelling to Hildesheim, Germany, to compete in his first Players Championship events since earning his Card.
The Professional Darts Corporation ProTour is the year-round professional circuit that keeps the PDC season running. It consists of a series of Players Championship floor events staged throughout the season, with tournaments held across multiple countries including the UK (such as Wigan, Leicester and Milton Keynes), Germany and the Netherlands.
These events give players regular opportunities to earn prize money and ranking points that count towards the ProTour Order of Merit, which in turn helps determine qualification for televised majors and the season-ending Players Championship Finals.
Each Players Championship event features 128 competitors in a straight knockout format — meaning there are no second chances. Matches are short first to 6, fast-paced and played across multiple boards in one large arena, creating an intense atmosphere.
With each draw done live on the day Sharp could face elite opposition from the very first match, including world champions and major winners such as Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price or Gary Anderson.
Since gaining his tour card at Q School in January he has been “sharpening” his game on the practice board and is eager to get into competitive action in Germany.
David explained: “Winning the Tour Card was a huge moment for me, and now it’s about taking that next step. I feel ready to compete at this level and I’m excited to get started in Germany this week.”
“On the ProTour you can draw anyone, so there’s no fear you just get up there and compete. I back myself against anyone on my day, and I’m excited to prove that.”
Strong performances this weekend would provide valuable early momentum and help push David up the ProTour Order of Merit, strengthening his chances of qualifying for televised events later in the season.
Holding a Professional Darts Corporation Tour Card guarantees the opportunity to compete full-time on the ProTour for two seasons, but staying there requires consistent results and prize money.
Players must earn enough prize money across that two-year period to finish inside the top 64 on the PDC Order of Merit to retain their card automatically.
Those who fall outside that cut-off must return to Qualifying School to fight for their place again.
Sharp has recently signed with same darts management company as Gary Anderson and secured a manufacturing deal with Unicorn.
Fans can follow live scores and watch live through official PDC channels (PDCTV & DartConnect) across the weekend.
