Nick McMechan, of Esk Valley Dog Training has announced the expansion of his business with two local expert trainers starting immediately.

Nick said “I’m really excited to have both Molly and Louise join Esk Valley Dog Training. We are aligned in our values of Kindness, Integrity and Ethics. We all have a supportive approach with our coaching styles. Louise will be joining as a northern and working breed specialist. This means she is excellent at improving the lives of dogs such as Huskies, Mastiffs and Mountain Dogs. Louise is owned by her lovely Husky, Noki. Molly is joining as a puppy specialist. Molly is also brilliant with herding breeds such as collies. Molly is owned by her Australian Kelpie, Moose.

“I’m so proud to have Molly & Louise part of the business. Demand has continued to grow rapidly for Esk Valley Dog Training and the three of us together will make a great team, delighting even more dog owners in Midlothian and nearby”

Louise said “My love of animals started early, thanks to my Nana, who filled my childhood with Reader’s Digest wildlife books, nature documentaries, and boundless encouragement to explore the outdoors. She had a red setter, Paddy, and though I hardly remember him, he had a massive impact on my life. When I was really wee, I wandered off on a solo adventure and fell into the neighbour’s pond. It was Paddy who saved me from drowning. So between him and my Nana, I grew up with a deep respect for animals and the natural world, which has shaped every part of my life since.”

Molly said “When I was a small child maybe five or six, I would tell everyone I saw walking a dog “I like your dog.” My parents would say it was my catchphrase. Even now, every time I see a dog on the street, a part of me lights up inside. I may have lost the childish impulse to run up and say it out loud, but the feeling has never gone away; I still love them all and working with them has always been the dream. Over the years, that simple childhood love has grown into something much bigger. I spent countless hours volunteering at the SPCA in New Zealand, then more years working in kennels and daycares, plus dog walking come rain or shine. Each dog taught me something, whether it be about patience, kindness, playfulness or trust. “
