Here are the Scottish Liberal Democrats’ candidates for the Scottish local elections which take place on 5th May.

Jenny Marr, Midlothian East Ward

With experience of working in the energy industry, as well as for Marie Curie, Jenny understands the needs and challenges of both business and the third sector.

As a member of the Scottish Climate Change Assembly Stewarding Group and Borders Rail Community Partnership, she is passionate about tackling climate change and working with local communities to do so. She pledges to work hard to deliver sustainable transport solutions for Midlothian. Originally from Selkirk, she lives in Eskbank with her partner Andrew and dog, Jasper.

Ken-Brown,-Penicuik-Ward-Liberal-Democrats

Ken Brown, Penicuik Ward

A pillar of the community, Ken has lived in Penicuik for 33 years and is a former chairperson of the Penicuik Community Council (and remains a serving member) and an elected Councillor representing Penicuik on Midlothian Council. He currently sits on the Board of Penicuik YMCA/YWCA and is Treasurer of the Penicuik Historical Society. With his passion for Penicuik, he will focus on developing community facilities in the town.

Ken worked for Standard Life for 40 years and was an IT consultant designing computer systems. His hobbies include playing golf, Bridge, reading and history.

Richard Chandler, Midlothian West Ward

Richard has lived in Midlothian for over twenty years. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, he is married with two children. Getting education provision right in Midlothian is one of his top priorities, along with supporting the business community.

Richard worked for over 30 years in industry in Edinburgh. Having recently retired, he has been engaged in volunteering and is hoping to finish off climbing Scotland’s Munros.
