Local MSP urges football fans to make their voices heard

Tuesday September 29th 2015

Colin Beattie has today urged football fans in Midlothian to make their voices heard in how the game is run by responding to the Scottish Government’s new consultation.

The Scottish Government has launched the consultation to inform potential future legislation to protect the rights of football fans. The consultation, which will run until 15 January 2016, is to look in to the best ways of increasing the involvement of supporters in football clubs.

Commenting, Colin said:

“Football clubs play an important role in our community and their fans should have the chance to be involved in the way clubs are run wherever possible. It’s good for supporters, clubs and the game as a whole.

“There are a range of views on how fans can most effectively play a role in the running of their clubs and this will be a valuable exercise in making sure that supporters’ voices are heard throughout the entire process.

“This new Scottish Government consultation is an important step in ensuring that local football fans have their say in how their clubs operate. I’d urge as many local supporters as possible to get in touch and give their views on the future of our national game.”
