Two teenagers from a Midlothian bowling club have proudly represented Scotland in an international indoor bowls test match.

Kaitlyn Rodger who is 16 and from Bonnyrigg and Jacek Goldie who is 14 and from Edinburgh, were selected for the Scotland Under-17 squad and travelled to the Jim Baker Stadium in Antrim, Northern Ireland, where they faced Ireland over the weekend.

The match marked a significant milestone for both players, as it was their first appearance for Scotland following successful trials held in December. The squad brought together some of the most talented young bowlers from across the country.

Kaitlyn and Jacek both play indoor bowls at Dalkeith Indoor Bowling Club during the winter season, where they have enjoyed recent success in local competitions.

Their achievements are not limited to indoor bowls. In the summer months, they compete in lawn bowls at Dalkeith Bowling Club and take part in both youth and adult leagues. Their talent was further recognised last year when they won medals at the national youth championships in Ayr in August 2025, representing Midlothian.

A strong support network was also present in Antrim, with Jacek’s parents, Kaitlyn’s parents and grandparents, and her younger brother Danny (12) all making the journey to cheer on both players and the Scotland team.

Their selection and debut highlight the strength of young sporting talent emerging from Midlothian, with both players already making their mark on the national stage.
