Adam and Ethan Ball

Two brothers are looking to help Midlothian residents kick off an active new year by transforming access to local health and wellbeing with the launch of a new community platform, Fit-Match.
Adam Ball, a Software Engineer, and Ethan Ball, a Sports Science student, have combined their unique skills to create a solution designed to break down financial barriers to fitness and foster a healthier, more connected Midlothian community – The Power of Free, Accessible Fitness.
Fit-Match is an interactive platform that centralises free community fitness events across Midlothian and the surrounding areas. The primary goal is simple: to make fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.
“As locals, we noticed a gap,” said co-founder Adam Ball. “There are incredible community groups, enthusiastic volunteers, and generous individuals organising free activities—from yoga in the park and group runs to walking clubs and bootcamps. The problem was visibility. Fit-Match gives these groups a completely free and simple platform to list their one-off or recurring events, ensuring every resident can easily find and join them.”
The platform features an interactive map, allowing local residents to quickly discover and participate in activities happening right on their doorstep.
Supporting Midlothian’s Fitness Industry while the community aspect remains completely free, Fit-Match also offers a support system for local fitness professionals and facilities.
The brothers’ vision aims ensure that by increasing the overall engagement with local fitness through the free listings, the entire community benefits.
Launching on January 1st at a time when so many people are looking to kickstart their fitness journey, professionals and facilities can opt for a membership to advertise their services, connect with new clients in their area, and use secure messaging and booking features.
Co-founder Ethan Ball explained:
“My background in Sports Science highlighted the challenge many professionals face in reaching their local audience.
“By encouraging more people to take that first step, we’re cultivating a wider, healthier audience for our local fitness professionals. We’re giving them a new, targeted way to showcase their paid classes and services to people already interested in improving their health.”
Key features for the community include:
– Completely Free Listings: Zero cost for community groups and volunteers to list one-off or recurring free events.
– Interactive Map: Easily find local events by location, time, and activity type.
– Flexible Listing: Clear visibility for everything from a weekly volunteer-led jog to a monthly health walk.
Fit-Match is set to launch on 1 January 2026.
