Midlothian Council to inspect towns and speak to residents

With the aim to hear from local residents, the Midlothian Council have announced that once a month, council officers and ward councillors will be visiting a town for a walkabout to ‘inspect it for any issues and to speak to local residents to hear their concerns’.

Following the visits, reports will be compiled and then forwarded to the appropriate council team to pick up on any highlighted issues.

The council have invited local council’s and private residents to attended these ‘walkabouts’, explaining that they last two hours.

The programme of visits for this year is as follows:

– February- Dalkeith Wednesday 25 February 10.00am – 12.00pm, Allan Terrace, Elmfield Road, Shadepark Crescent

– March – Danderhall, Monday 16 March 12.00pm – 2.00pm, Neatoune Court. Neatoune Drive, Edmonstone Road

– April – Penicuik, Thursday 16 April, 10.00am – 12.00pm, Loanburn Avenue, Woodside Drive, Eastfield Drive

– May – Bonnyrigg, Wednesday 6 May 12.00pm – 2.00pm, Pentland Road, Dalhousie Road, Dalhousie Place, Dalhousie Drive, Dalhousie Avenue West

– June – Pathhead, Thursday 18 June 10.00am – 12.00pm, Dreepy burn, Crichton Avenue, Crichton Drive, Park area

– July – Bilston, Monday 20 July 12.00pm – 2.00pm, Allermuir Avenue, Moorfoot View

– August – Newtongrange, Tuesday 18 August 12.00pm – 2.00pm, Gatton Court, Gatton Place, Bonnet Court, Bonnet Drive, Peerie Terrace

Midlothian Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Stuart McKenzie said:

“These walkabouts show our commitment to improving neighbourhoods. They give Midlothian residents the chance to speak directly with council staff, raise local issues, and have any concerns looked into.”
