Police Scotland Crime Beat Report for Midlothian

Midlothian Crime Beat for period between Monday 1st and Sunday 7th August 2022.

For the last few weeks this report has only covered the eastern side of Midlothian. From next week it is expected that the western side of Midlothian will be included.

Dalkeith

Between 4pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday 2nd August a green Ford Focus parked in Newmills Road, Dalkeith was damaged. Further enquiries to be carried out.

On Tuesday 2nd August a 34 year old male was charged in connection with driving a vehicle without insurance at Old Dalkeith Road, Danderhall. A further male was cautioned and charged in connection with causing and permitting the vehicle to be driven without valid insurance. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Around 1.20am on Friday 5th August a window of a licensed premises in Buccleuch Street was smashed. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the male responsible.

Around 10am on Friday 5th August, a male was seen within the curtilage of a property at Edmonstone Drive, Danderhall in circumstances where it may be reasonably inferred that theft was intended. Police are following a positive line of enquiry.

Around 7.50pm on Friday 5th August a scooter was stolen from a garden at a property in Arthur View Crescent, Danderhall. Police are following a positive line of enquiry.

Between 8am on Friday 5th August and 7pm on Sunday 7th August, a shed at an address in Gibraltar Gardens was broken into and a red and black mobility scooter and pressure washer were stolen.

Newtongrange/Mayfield

On Sunday 7th August officers carrying out mobile patrols observed and stopped a vehicle being driven without insurance in Andrew Dodds Avenue, Mayfield. The 49 year old male driver was subsequently cautioned and charged in connection with having no insurance and being in possession of controlled drugs after cannabis was found.

Gorebridge

On Monday 1st August a 22 year old male was charged in connection with being in possession of herbal cannabis in the David Herkes Way area of Gorebridge. He was issued with a Recorded Police Warning.

In the early hours of the morning on Saturday 6th August a 32 year old male was issued with a Recorded Police Warning after being found in possession of a small amount of cocaine and cannabis in Greenhall Road.

Between 10.30pm on Friday 5th August and 1030am on Saturday 6th August food items were thrown at a window of a property in New Park Gardens, no damage was caused.

Around 8.05am on Saturday 6th August, a theft of fuel was reported at a garage at Newtonloan, Gorebridge. Enquiries are ongoing.

On the evening of Saturday 6th August Police received a report of a theft of fuel from a garage at Newtonloan, Gorebridge by a vehicle displaying different registration plates to the front and rear.

Between 11pm on Saturday 6th August and 6.30am on Sunday 7th August a Grey Hyundai parked on Gore Avenue had tyres damaged.
