Police Scotland Crime Beat Report for Midlothian

Midlothian Crime Beat for period between Monday 3rd and Sunday 9th October 2022. This week’s report covers Dalkeith, Midlothian South and Midlothian East only.

Dalkeith

On the evening of Monday 3rd October officers were carrying out patrols in Melville Road when they observed a vehicle being driven with defective lighting. On stopping the vehicle officers noted a smell of cannabis from within. The 44 year old driver failed the drugs swipe test and was subsequently arrested and taken to a police station for further tests to be carried out. Enquiries are ongoing.

On Monday 3rd October police received a report of a break-in to a house in Woodburn Road, where items including electrical equipment were stolen. Enquiries are ongoing.

Around 12.30pm on Tuesday 4th October a member of staff was assaulted at shop premises in High Street, Dalkeith by female during an incident within the store. Police are following a positive line of enquiry.

Around 2.45pm on Tuesday 4th October a theft took place from premises in White Hart Street. Police are following a positive line of enquiry.

A female driver was charged in connection with careless driving following a Road Traffic Collision between a vehicle and a pedal cycle on Lauder Road on Thursday 6th October.

On the evenings of Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October items were stolen from shop premises in Eskbank Road, Dalkeith. Police are following a positive line of enquiry with regards both thefts.

Newtongrange/Mayfield

Around 9.30pm on Wednesday 5th October a window was damaged at a property in Pinewood Road, Mayfield. Enquiries are ongoing.

Gorebridge

On Monday 3rd October a report was received of damage having been caused to machinery and equipment at Gorebridge Leisure Centre in the early hours of the morning on Saturday 1st October. Enquiries are ongoing.
