Police Scotland Crime Beat Report for Midlothian

Dalkeith, Midlothian South and Midlothian East Crime Beat report for period between Monday 23rd and Sunday 29th January 2023.

Dalkeith

A 43 year old male was arrested and charged in connection with various Road Traffic Offences, including disqualified driving, no insurance and careless driving after being observed by police driving at speed in Dalkeith on Monday 23rd January 2023. The male will appear at court at a later date.

Between 1am and 8am on Tuesday 24th January a black and orange 125CC KTM motor cycle with white wheels was stolen from outside a property in Lodeneia Park, Dalkeith. Enquiries are ongoing.

Between 1.15pm and 4pm on Wednesday 25th January a silver, orange and black KTM Duke motorbike parked securely outside Edinburgh College, Dalhousie Road was stolen. Enquiries are ongoing.

A male was charged in connection with having no MOT after the vehicle was observed by Police being driven on the Edinburgh City Bypass on Wednesday 25th January and subsequently stopped.

In the early hours of the morning on Saturday 28th January Police were called to a report of a fight in Lothian Street, Dalkeith. During the incident a 26 year old female who was acting aggressively shouting and swearing, and failed to stop when asked by Police was issued with a Fixed Penalty Ticket.

Newtongrange/Mayfield

Between 6pm on Monday 23rd January and 4.30pm on Tuesday 24th January a window was smashed at a property in Oak Crescent, Mayfield. Enquiries are ongoing.

Around 10.30pm on Monday 23rd January a window of a property in Bogwood Road, Mayfield was smashed. Further enquiries to be carried out.

A 39 year old male is being reported to the Procurator Fiscal after Police attended at an address in Newtongrange on Monday 23rd January and found he was not present, which was in breach of court bail conditions to remain at the address during specified times.

Between 7.30pm and 7.40pm on Tuesday 24th January a group of youths travelling on an LRT bus had a minor argument with a passenger as they were leaving the bus in Eskview Road, Mayfield. One of the youths then smashed a window on the bus. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the youth involved.

Around 6pm on Thursday 26th January a window of a property in Mansfield Road, Newtongrange was broken. A group of youths were seen running away following the incident. Further enquiries to be carried out.

Gorebridge/Pathhead

Between 6pm on Tuesday 24th January and 9.15am on Wednesday 25th January a shed was broken into in New Hunterfield, and items stolen from within. Enquiries are ongoing.

Between 7.20pm and 8.20pm on Thursday 26th January, a house and vehicle in Millbank Grove were vandalised with spray paint. Enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

Around 1.45am on Saturday 28th January a house in Roman Camp, Pathhead was broken into and a white VW Golf stolen from outside. Police wish to trace two males in connection with the incident.

On Saturday 28th January 2023 Police received a report of a break-in to a garden shed at a property in New Hunterfield, Gorebridge and a silver Ibis Ripmo mountain bike having been stolen. Enquiries are ongoing.

A 21 year old male was charged in connection with careless driving following a Road Traffic Collision, which took place on Saturday 28th January on the B6372 near to Dewarton.
