Police Scotland Crime Beat Report for Midlothian

Dalkeith, Midlothian South and Midlothian East Crime Beat report for period between Monday 30th January and Sunday 5th February 2023.

Dalkeith

Around 1.30pm on Monday 30th January, a male described as approximately 30 – 40 years of age, stocky build wearing a tracksuit and a further male described as 20 – 30 years wearing black clothing who were driving a white flatbed truck are reported to have attended an address in the Stewart Grove area of Danderhall and stolen scrap metal.

Around 8pm on Tuesday 31st January, a male and female entered shop premises in Newton Church Road and stole items from within. Enquiries are ongoing.

Around midday on Tuesday 31st January a male described as white, 6’, slim build wearing a green puffer jacket, dark trousers and grey trainers is reported to have attended at shop premises in Woodburn Avenue, Dalkeith and stolen items. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the male.

Around 10.50pm on Wednesday 1st February 2023 a black BMW was stolen from High Street, Dalkeith. The male suspect who was wearing a red hooded top appears to have been disturbed and the bike recovered. Enquiries are ongoing.

Between 10pm on Wednesday 1st February and 8.45am on Thursday 2nd February a blue and red BMW motor cycle was stolen from the High Street, Dalkeith.

Between 10am and 12.50pm on Thursday 2nd February a blue Suzuki moped was stolen from Cocklerow Loan, Millerhill. It was later recovered nearby badly damaged. Enquiries are ongoing.

On the evening of Thursday 3rd February a male was assaulted by four males in Jarnac Court, Dalkeith, sustaining minor injuries. Further enquiries to be carried out.

A 47 year old female stopped by police in the Sheriffhall area of Dalkeith on Saturday 4th February was found to be a disqualified driver, she was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and will appear at court at a later date.

Around 1.30pm on Sunday 5th February a black specialized Turbo Levo e-bike was stolen from a bike rack, on a vehicle parked at Hardengreen carpark. Police wish to trace two males in connection with the incident.

A 21 year old male was issued with a recorded police warning after being found in possession of drugs in the Thorny Crook Crescent area of Dalkeith on Sunday 5th February.

Newtongrange / Mayfield

Between Friday 27th January and Tuesday 31st January a gas meter box at a property in Willow Road was damaged, enquiries are ongoing.

Overnight between Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st January a green GT Stomper Ace mountain bike and a yellow and black Canyon mountain bike were stolen from Laburnum Place, Mayfield. Enquiries are ongoing.

Around 9.30pm on Thursday 2nd February a female entered shop premises in Mayfield Place and stole items from within. Police are following a positive line of enquiry.

Around 5.50am on Saturday 4th February a blue Honda Accord was travelling between Newtongrange and Dalkeith when a male described as 25-30 years of age, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” wearing dark clothing and a woollen hat who was standing on the roadway is reported to have thrown an item and damaged the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the male.

Gorebridge

On the evening of Monday 30th January two reports of theft of fuel were reported at a garage at Newtonloan Toll. Enquiries are ongoing.

Between 8pm on Thursday 2nd February and 3pm on Friday 3rd February a shed was broken into at a property in the New Park Gardens area of Gorebridge, and a green Contessa Active 50 mountain bike stolen. Enquiries are ongoing.
