1 – Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel is a 15th-century Episcopal chapel located in the village of Roslin. Founded in 1446 as a place of worship, the chapel has become a popular attraction. The historical site has been a sought-after attraction due to being featured in the publication of Dan Brown’s 2003 novel, ‘Da Vinci Code’, alongside the film adaptation being filmed at the chapel. Along with the historic landmark, the visitor centre has been updated with touch-screen technology, allowing visitors to dive deeper into the story of the chapel and see artificts close-up.
Open from 9 am to 5 pm, the chapel is a go to attraction, despite not being allowed to take photo’s of the chapel’s interior.

2 – Dalhousie Castle Falconry
Within the Dalhousie Castle estate grounds is a small family run business featuring over 45 birds of prey. The falconry is home to an impressive variety of birds, including hawks, owls and Falcons. The attraction offers hand-on sessions with the birds alongside archery to individuals and groups.
Encouraging booking prior to arrival due to becoming a popualar attraction, the experience is mixed hour depending on bookings.

3 – National Mining Musuem Scotland
Scotland’s National Mining Museum located in Newtongrange showcases historic engineering and machinery all on show within one of Scotland’s finest examples of a Victorian colliery (a coal mine with associated buildings and machinery). Open 7 days a week from 10 am to 4 pm, the attraction offers tours alongside a cafe and play area. Tours of the two floored exhibition involve audio with ex-miners often guiding tour groups.
The attraction runs on a turn up on the day basis, meaning no prior bookings need to be made.

4 – Dalkeith History Museum
The new museum located in Dalkeith offers an exploration of Dalkeith’s rich history. The attraction is a restoration of the Dalkeith Corn Exchange which was once Scotland’s largest. The free to enter exhibition features a collection of relics from varied points in the town’s history, such as, historic uniforms, railway bells and many more. Alongside the exhibition, the museum offers events, guided tours and a walking trail. Open only on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, it is a unique experience diving deep into the history of Dalkeith.

5 – Dalkeith Palace
Built in 1711, the palace located in Dalkeith is regarded as one the grandest early classical homes in Scotland. Returning this year, the palace is offering tours allowing visitors to walk through the historic landmark. Alongside touring the palace, they also offer a variety of events, such as Scottish Furniture Makers Exhibition from the 12th to 15th of June and a variety of art exhibitions throughout the year.
