A Health Information Point, created by the Health and Social Care Partnership in collaboration with Live Borders, will officially launch at Galashiels Library on Friday, October 25.
This initiative aims to offer accessible health information and the support services available, particularly for individuals, family members, or carers concerned about or affected by conditions, such as dementia.
The Health Information Point will serve as a comprehensive resource hub, providing a wide range of leaflets and books covering key health topics, including brain health, healthy eating, exercise, and dementia care.
Additionally, it will act as a guide, signposting users to local services that can offer further assistance or specialized support.
The project is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that members of the community have access to accurate and practical health information. With dementia and other health conditions becoming an increasing concern, the Health Information Point will provide much-needed guidance and resources to those seeking help.
Speaking about the initiative, Nurse Consultant/Strategic Lead for Dementia for the Health and Social Care Partnership, Christine Proudfoot, said: “It is fantastic to be part of the planning and formal launch of a new health information point based within Galashiels Library.
“There will be relevant books to borrow and resources to signpost, provide self-help and develop new connections in the community. The library in Galashiels is a lovely space and having a health information point there will be so valuable for people. Thank you to all involved in making this happen.”
The Health Information Point will be freely available during normal library hours, offering the community a user-friendly way to access health advice.
The launch event will take place and is open to all at Galashiels Library on Friday, October 25 from 2pm and will include a brief introduction to the available resources.
