Plans for new housing at the site of a motorhome company are set to be put out for public consultation.

Aberdeen-based First Endeavour have lodged a Pre Application Notice (PAN) with East Lothian Council for housing on the Roseisle site in Whitecraig.

The notice includes plans for an online public event to be held at the start of next month.

No details of the number of houses or type of properties planned for the site have been made public.

The application address at 34 Whitecraig Road sits in front of land which was identified in East Lothian Council’s Local Development Plan for up to 200 homes.

A council spokesperson said the PAN refers to a residential development with no reference to the size of the site or number of properties.

They added the local authority has agreed that the applicant should hold a “web-based” public consultation event on March 2 between 4pm and 7pm which will be publicised beforehand.

Whitecraig Primary School, which has 130 pupils, is due to be replaced by a new larger facility in the next few years with plans to demolish the current building on Whitecraig Avenue.

The new school is included in £46 million funding for a new secondary school at neighbouring Wallyford and is expected to open its doors in April 2024.
