Students from Newbattle Community High School have taken part in Work Experience this week. Isla and Jordan have jointly presented the Breakfast Programme on Black Diamond 107.8 FM alongside regular presenter, Alan Thomson.

Isla commented, “During my time at Black Diamond I presented, used the mixing desk, created playlists and many items including the news and weather.”

Jordan says, “Monday was an introduction to what we were going to be doing throughout the week that is, producing and presenting.

“I would say it is a really good placement for work experience and the people you are working with are really kind and supportive and I have enjoyed my time at Black Diamond”

Isla added, “It did take a while to get used to but by the time it was Thursday I was presenting the show pretty much by myself. I would highly recommend volunteering for Community Radio. I think that producing or presenting or even using the sound deck or creating playlists are new skills that many would enjoy.

Alan Thomson said , “It has been a pleasure having Isla and Jordan in the studio this week. They have been keen to learn and by the end of the week the improvement in their confidence and presenting skills has been impressive. They are a credit to Newbattle Community High School.”
