First Minister Nicola Sturgeon makes her statement to the Scottish Parliament.
Midlothian will remain in Level 3 Covid restrictions for another week after the First Minister said no changes would be made to local authority tiers this week.
Speaking to the Scottish Parliament, Nicola Sturgeon said that good progress was being made in pushing down the spread of coronavirus across Scotland.
While East Lothian stays in Level 2, hopes that neighbouring Midlothian would join it were dashed as the First Minister said there was still a need to “strengthen and solidify” the progress made.
She told MSPs: “The sacrifices everyone is making are making a difference, they are getting case numbers down, reducing the numbers getting ill and needing hospital care, and so protecting the NHS and saving lives.
“Although we are encouraged by the impact current restrictions have had, the need to strengthen and solidify that progress means we should continue to take care and err on the side of caution.”
Ms Sturgeon said that no local authority would see a level change this week following a weekly review but indicated changes were likely to be brought in next week.
